As the years pass (more and more quickly it seems) my musical tastes have become more eclectic and the abstract sound of free-folk or drone based ambient appeals more than predictable structured sounds of indie rock. New Weird America and all the roots and branches therein has been my bag for the past four years.
But the freshness and intensity of Scotland’s ‘The Twilight Sad’ is a reminder that good old fashioned rock played with intelligence and sincerity can still get the pulse racing. So far I’ve only heard their debut single (That Summer At Home I had Become The Invisble Boy) and I can’t wait to hear their album – both on the ever trustworthy Fat Cat Records.
