David Bowie doesn’t say much these days. Since the surprise release of his new album The Next Day, he’s kept himself to himself.

For someone of his standing, staying mum is an effective way of drawing publicity and prolonging his image as an enigmatic man of mystery.

He has, however,  just broken the silence by giving a scoop to Rick Moody of The Rumpus.Net ; sending 42 words in reply to a request for a ‘Work flow Diagram’.

I’m not even going to attempt to review this movie. I’m still not even sure if I love or hate it!

YESTERDAY ON WORDLE

How do you get new writing ideas? It’s been around for a while now, I think, but I’ve only just discovered Wordle ,  a neat online toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. It strikes me that it could be used as a great teaching resource or as a kind of digital version of William S. Burroughs’ cut-up technique to generate a fresh way of  looking at tired  texts.
