PIGEONS, PLACEBOES AND PRAYER

qualiasoupI came across the video by Qualiasoup (of whome I know nothing)about “freeing ourselves from the cage of superstition” . It makes a lot of sense to me. For some reason it also reminded me of the rational thinking of American comedian Emo Phillips : “When I was a kid, I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realised, the Lord doesn’t work that way. So I just stole one and asked Him to forgive me”.

I applaud The European court of Human Rights in Strasbourg for ruling against the use of crucifixes in Italian schools. In their judgement they stated that: “The compulsory display of a symbol of a given confession in premises used by the public authorities… restricted the right of parents to educate their children in conformity with their convictions.” Continue reading
