My mood took a morbid turn yesterday. I think I’m about ready for the Easter break.

I thought of the phrase  ‘stalker mentality’ when thinking about how fans obsess about stars.

Doing a Google search took me into darker territory with this fine poem:

Stalker Mentality by William Mowell

I’m the invisible man sitting in the corner,
the ghost of a man, always a loner
You can’t see me but I’ve always been here
I drift in and out, something to fear

That wind you felt, it wasn’t the air
You never notice, and always scared

Outside your window, but you never see
This stalker mentality is what I’m meant to be

In your closet, watching from a distance
When you awake, you’ll have no assistance

You’ll finally know what I’ve done
By that time I’ll already be gone

Moors Murderers:Myra Hindley + Ian Brady

This in turn made me think a chilling song by Richard Thompson which was apparently partly inspired by the Moors Murderers.

Love In A Faithless Country

Always move in pairs and travel light
A loose friend is an enemy, keep it tight
Always leave a job the way you found it
Look for trouble coming and move around it
That’s the way we make love

Always make your best moves late at night
Always keep your tools well out of sight
It never pays to work the same town twice
It never hurts to be a little nice
That’s the way we make love

Learn the way to melt into a crowd
Never catch an eye or dress too loud
You’ve got to be invisible my friend
To find the joy on which we must depend
That’s the way we make love

Here is Thompson performing the song (complete with extended guitar solos):
