My sadness at hearing that Pocahaunted duo (California’s Amanda Brown and Bethany Cosentino) are no more has a plus side in that Bethany has teamed up with main squeeze Bob Bruno and rediscovered the spirit of Summer.  Her new project is called Best Coast and this video  brightened my day as the snow fell outdoors:

Bethany Cosentino

In an interview for PopSense, Bethany says the project aims to tell the world how obsessed she is with California. She plans to write “songs about summer and the sun and the ocean and being a lazy creep” – with other titles like “Sun Was High (So Was I)’ we get the picture!  You can download the song, ‘When I’m With You’,  here

Meantime, Amanda Brown is rumoured to be gathering a  a supergroup of artists from the Not Not Fun records roster – Cameron Stallones (Sun Araw; organ), Diva Dompe (BlackBlack; bass/vocals), Ged Gengrass (Antique Brothers; drums), and husband/co-NNF label owener Britt Brown (Robedoor; guitar). This should be great too.
