The only record I ever bought by Michael Jackson was when I was 14 and he was 13. I don’t know why I liked the single ‘Ben’ , because it’s a pretty cheesy song but do remember playing the 7″ continually and copying out all the words so the stuff about finding a friend must have struck a chord. He looks so sweet in this video – check out that tie – and I prefer to remember him this way than as the freak he turned into.
